The Steam Summer Sale has brought substantial discounts to a vast number of games across the platform, including almost the entirety of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise. However, one notable title has been conspicuously absent from the promotional pricing: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The game, originally priced at $40, remains at its standard cost, a stark contrast to its franchise counterparts.

Virtually every other Assassin's Creed title has been reduced. For instance, Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition, Assassin's Creed 2, and Assassin's Creed Liberation HD are all available for $5. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is priced at $5, while Revelations is listed at $6. The remastered Assassin's Creed III can be purchased for $10. Later entries also see markdowns, with Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate each costing $7.50. Assassin's Creed Origins is down to $9, Odyssey to $12, and Valhalla to $15. The most recent installment, Assassin's Creed Mirage, is on sale for $20, and the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows is available for $31.50.

The franchise bundle, normally totaling $517.36, is available for $169.27, representing a 67 percent discount. This bundle aggregates 16 games from the series.

This sale occurs as players anticipate the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows next month and the upcoming Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9. While Black Flag takes place after Assassin's Creed III, the nature of Black Flag Resynced is subject to speculation. It is suggested that Shadows, through its final free update, Black Tides, may serve as a narrative bridge connecting to Black Flag Resynced, potentially positioning the latter as more than a simple remake and possibly incorporating elements of a sequel. This implies that Assassin's Creed Shadows, rather than Assassin's Creed III, could provide the most direct narrative lead-in to the Resynced version.
