Ubisoft has welcomed back Eric Baptizat, a key figure in several recent Assassin's Creed titles, to take on the newly established role of Game Director for the Assassin's Creed brand. Baptizat previously served as the director for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and held significant design roles on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Origins.
Jean Guesdon, Head of Content for Assassin's Creed, expressed confidence in Baptizat's return, highlighting his extensive experience with 16 years at Ubisoft, his passion for gameplay, and his deep connection to the franchise. "Seeing someone with his expertise, his rigor, and his collaborative spirit step into this role fills me with confidence and honestly, a lot of excitement, for what's ahead for the brand," Guesdon stated.
Baptizat's career at Ubisoft includes work as a designer on multiple titles, notably as lead game designer on James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, followed by his contributions to Black Flag, Unity, and Origins. After directing Valhalla, he departed Ubisoft in 2021 to join EA Motive, where he led the development of the Dead Space remake and served as game design director for Battlefield 6. His return marks a significant move for Ubisoft, bringing back a high-profile developer known for his work on popular entries in the series, including Black Flag.
