August 2026 is set to be a relatively quiet month for new PC game releases, offering a much-needed lull before the anticipated surge of titles expected in the fall. This period provides an opportunity for players to delve into games released earlier in the year or to explore a curated selection of new experiences before the gaming calendar intensifies.
The upcoming months are particularly dense, following numerous announcements from events like Summer Game Fest. For those who enjoy the survival crafting genre, three significant 1.0 updates are on the horizon: Valheim, Enshrouded, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
This month's releases offer a diverse range of genres. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is slated to launch early in the month, followed by the arrival of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection 2 and Star Wars Zero Company on the same day. Additionally, Gamescom will host its annual event towards the end of August, a convention that historically marks a significant point in the gaming calendar.
