A dedicated modder has created an additional cutscene for the vampire spawn ending of Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, offering players a more extended farewell with the character. This new scene addresses the feeling for some players that Astarion's original spawn ending concluded too abruptly. The mod, titled 'Follow Astarion - New Endgame Cutscene,' was developed by HyperspaceTowel, a modder known for restoring cut content in the game.
With the mod installed, players who have romanced Astarion and chosen for him to remain a vampire spawn will experience a new scene on the docks. Instead of Astarion leaving abruptly, the player character can find him behind some crates in the shade for a wordless hug of support. This tweak aims to provide a more emotionally resonant conclusion for those invested in the character's romance arc.
This addition works in conjunction with another of HyperspaceTowel's mods, 'Astarion Docks Narration Unlocked,' which ensures the narrator comments on the dock encounter even if other companions are present. The modder specified that the cutscene will only trigger if the player is in a relationship with Astarion and is physically present on the docks at the conclusion of the game, and not if the chosen ending involves the player character departing elsewhere. The new cutscene has been met with positive reception from players who desired a more fleshed-out conclusion to Astarion's story.
