Battlefield 6's "High-Value Target" update, the final content drop for Season 3, is set to launch on June 30, bringing a suite of adjustments focused on improving gunplay, netcode, and vehicle combat. Battlefield Studios has released detailed patch notes outlining changes designed to provide a more polished player experience.
The update emphasizes rewarding deliberate aim and weapon mastery through several gunplay adjustments. Muzzle velocity and bullet drag have been altered across most primary weapons, with bullet drag increased by 40% universally and by 100% when using Match Grade ammunition. This aims to increase the importance of leading moving targets. Bolt-action rifle "sweet spot" ranges have also been narrowed, requiring more precise positioning for effective long-range engagements. To complement these changes, recoil variation has been reduced across the weapon pool, making sustained fire more predictable and controllable while retaining distinct weapon characteristics.
Netcode and damage feedback have also received significant attention. Players should experience fewer instances of dying behind cover due to improved server-side damage handling and faster hit confirmations. Damage feedback will no longer be delayed when taking damage from multiple sources simultaneously, and blood effects will only appear for actual hits. Network bandwidth prioritization has been enhanced to better serve gameplay-critical data.
Vehicle combat sees further tuning, building on earlier Season 3 adjustments. The attack helicopter's heavy rocket damage has been buffed against tanks, helicopters, and jets, and the RPG-7V2 launcher also receives a damage increase. The Smoke Generator now offers damage reduction benefits akin to Thermal Smoke. Changes have also been made to Mobile Anti-Air Vehicle ammunition types, with increased damage against aircraft for several ammo variants.
Content-wise, the "High-Value Target" update introduces the "Wet Work" event, a limited-time affair featuring missions across Battlefield 6 and Redsec. A new multiplayer mode, "Tactical Obliteration," makes its return, offering a focused objective-based experience. For newcomers or those seeking a quicker experience, a "Casual Battle Royale" mode with bots is being added, providing more accessible Quads matches. Players can also unlock a new melee weapon, the "EOD Bot Arm."
Battlefield 6 will also be available for a free-to-play trial from June 30 to July 6, allowing players to experience five modes across four maps, including the expansive "Railway to Golmud."
Additional refinements include improvements to UI and HUD clarity, polish for the Redsec mode with smoother "Second Chance" transitions and more reliable squad redeploys, and various fixes and enhancements for the Portal mode, including new tools for creators and map updates.
