Beast of Reincarnation, co-developed by Fictions and drawing inspiration from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is set to launch on August 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A recently released gameplay video demonstrates the game's core combat loop, emphasizing precise parries and strategic use of a wolf companion named Koo.

The combat system requires players to master the art of parrying enemy attacks. Successful parries not only defend against incoming damage but also replenish the protagonist Emma's Focus Point (FP) gauge. Once the FP gauge is full, players can summon Koo to aid them. This summon triggers a significant time dilation effect, granting players a brief window to strategize and plan their next moves. Koo offers several support abilities, including the long-range Higanbana Seeds attack, which can gradually wear down opponents. The game also features a stun gauge for enemies; once full, adversaries become vulnerable to instant-kill attacks.

Further enhancing the tactical options, Koo's Higanbana Roots ability can immobilize up to three enemies simultaneously, temporarily preventing them from attacking. Boss encounters are designed to encourage coordinated assaults between Emma and Koo, allowing players to inflict heavy damage, disrupt enemy attack patterns, and apply status effects. Defeating these formidable foes will also unlock new powers for both Emma and Koo. Players will earn Skill Points throughout their journey, which can be used to acquire new techniques and expand the duo's offensive and defensive capabilities.

Notably, Beast of Reincarnation is being co-developed by Game Freak, the studio also responsible for the Pokémon series. Game Freak is reportedly working on the next main Pokémon title, tentatively scheduled for 2027 release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
