Bethesda is continuing its commitment to Starfield, with new content slated for release through 2027. The studio confirmed that the ambitious space role-playing game, which launched in 2023, will receive expanded content as part of its Year 3 plans, including "new stories" and "new Starborn content."

In an update shared by director Todd Howard, the roadmap for Bethesda Game Studios revealed that Starfield remains a significant part of the company's future. While a Starfield 2 or a major 2.0 update was not announced, the existing game is set to receive further DLC and ongoing updates.

"As we enter Year 3, we’ll continue expanding the Settled Systems with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and additional updates," Howard stated. The studio reiterated its dedication, emphasizing that "Starfield remains an important part of our future."

The game has seen substantial player engagement since its release on Xbox and PC, with over 17 million players logging nearly a billion hours. Bethesda also highlighted the role of its Creations platform, noting that over 40 percent of Starfield players have utilized fan-created content. The company plans to "continue investing in creators and giving players new ways to make Starfield their own."

This ongoing support for Starfield is part of a broader strategy for Bethesda Game Studios, which is also investing in new installments for its established franchises, including remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and the preproduction of Fallout 5. The studio emphasized its commitment to evolving its technology and developing the next generation of its signature RPGs.
