Bethesda has confirmed it is investigating the possibility of patching The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This follows a resurgence of player feedback prompted by the recent release of the game on Nintendo Switch 2, which has been met with praise for its optimized performance.
While the Switch 2 version includes expected visual downgrades compared to its counterparts on PC and other consoles, early comparisons indicate a smoother framerate and fewer stuttering issues. This is particularly notable as the PC, PS5, and Xbox versions of Oblivion Remastered have continued to suffer from frame pacing problems, various bugs, and a lack of post-launch support since their initial release in April of last year.
Following the Switch 2's launch and the subsequent discussions about the ongoing technical issues on other platforms, Bethesda acknowledged the community's requests. "We've heard your feedback asking for an additional patch for Oblivion Remastered," the developer stated on X. "The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game has a number of optimisations that we are looking into bringing to other platforms and we will share more when we are able."
This is not the first indication that Bethesda might revisit the PC and console versions. Last month, the company reportedly told YouTuber MrMattyPlays that some of the optimizations developed for the Switch 2 version were intended to be brought to console and PC. Players are hopeful that these potential patches will significantly address the long-standing technical shortcomings of Oblivion Remastered on these platforms.
