Hyperstrange, the studio behind the dark Western-inspired shooter Blood West, has announced its next project: Bloodwoven. The upcoming game shifts the developer's focus to a frozen survival shooter with a particularly unusual setting – the decaying corpse of a colossal, long-dead god.

Players will assume the role of native tribesmen born from what are described as giant blood-pods. However, these pods have begun to malfunction, birthing monstrous entities instead of new members for the tribes. The world itself is a massive, frozen deity, and players will need to subsist by harvesting resources from its remains.

A key feature of Bloodwoven is its fully simulated ecosystem. Various creatures, including what the developer refers to as toothy uniwalruses, will roam the environment, preying on each other and the player. Additionally, different tribes inhabit this world, each with their own customs and motivations. These factions will react to the player based on their actions within the game.

Survival mechanics will play a significant role, with players needing to manage basic needs such as hunger and temperature. Staying warm in the arctic environment will be crucial, requiring players to craft warm clothing, build campfires, and prepare hot beverages. Exposure to icy water will also pose a threat.

The game will offer a high degree of freedom for exploration, featuring a climbing system that allows players to ascend any mountain if they possess sufficient stamina. Players are advised to prepare thoroughly for both the climbs and any potential dangers awaiting them at the summits.

A trailer for Bloodwoven has been released, showcasing its unique premise and gameplay. While a specific release date has not yet been announced, the game is anticipated to launch sometime next year. Blood West, released in 2023, received ongoing support from Hyperstrange with various expansions, including the recent Scavengers DLC.
