Netflix has confirmed that its stylish animated revenge drama Blue Eye Samurai will return for a second season in January 2027, and that a third, concluding season is already in development. The announcement was made at Anime NYC on August 20.

A 90-second teaser for the upcoming season offers a glimpse into protagonist Mizu's journey to London. The footage suggests that Mizu's alliance with arms dealer Abijah Fowler, who convinced her not to kill him by promising aid in finding her father, will lead to perilous adventures at sea. A storm appears to endanger their voyage, highlighting Mizu's continued focus on her quest for vengeance.

Mizu awakens to find a sword pointed at her, likely held by Fowler, who was released from his cell in the season one finale. Earlier previews indicated that Mizu's allies left behind in Japan will not be forgotten, with her apprentice Ringo seeking a new purpose and Princess Akemi navigating court politics following the Shogun's death.

The confirmation of a third and final season suggests a faster production pipeline, potentially reducing the wait for the conclusion of Mizu's narrative after the nearly three-year gap since the first season's release in November 2023.
