The sixth book in Dennis E. Taylor's Bobiverse series, titled The Infinite Extent, is set to release on Audible on September 10. The release will coincide with the franchise's 10th anniversary and will once again feature the narration of Ray Porter, known for his work on Project Hail Mary.
This new installment promises to delve into the series' most significant questions yet. According to Taylor, The Infinite Extent will tackle the origins of the Pan Galactic Federation's wormhole network, investigate a derelict alien spacecraft, explore faster-than-light warp drive technology, aid tens of thousands of refugees in finding a new home, and race to stop a supermassive black hole named Nemesis from destroying the Milky Way.
The Bobiverse series follows the consciousness of Bob Johansson, who awakens centuries after his death to find his mind uploaded into a sentient space probe. As Bob explores the galaxy, he becomes a legion of Bobs, encountering alien civilizations and grappling with themes of artificial intelligence, identity, and post-humanism.
Porter expressed his continued enthusiasm for the series, stating that after a decade and six audiobooks, the Bobiverse still offers unique challenges. He highlighted the distinct voices required for the numerous Bob characters and Taylor's skill in making artificial beings relatable. Porter described The Infinite Extent as the most ambitious installment to date and expressed his honor in providing the voice for it.
The first Bobiverse audiobook, We Are Legion (We Are Bob), was released as an Audible Original in 2026. The series has since expanded to include deluxe hardcover editions published by Simon & Schuster in Fall 2025. The franchise has also been optioned by Lord Miller Productions for potential adaptation.
