A teenage boy in Cypress, Texas, sustained injuries from an electrical shock after lightning struck his home on July 7. The 13-year-old, Vladyslav Skuridin, was playing a computer game when the incident occurred. He reported to ABC News, via a statement from his mother, that he "felt a shock go through my whole body and I saw a super bright white light." He also described being "super dizzy and confused" and "quickly jolting back." The lightning strike resulted in a loud boom that caused his ears to hurt and pop. The event also sparked a small fire in the home's attic. Medical professionals evaluated Skuridin at the scene, but he did not require hospitalization. Local authorities have since advised the public to avoid using corded electronics and to stay clear of electrical wiring and plumbing during thunderstorms to prevent similar incidents.
