Veteran actor Bruce Campbell has revealed he has approximately five years to live as he continues to battle cancer. Campbell, known for his iconic role as Ash Williams in the 'Evil Dead' franchise, shared the prognosis during a recent appearance on The Adam Carolla Show. He characterized his cancer as a condition that is "treatable" but "not curable."

"In my world, I'm in a five-year prognosis," Campbell stated, adding that "the current thing is a five-year deal." When asked by the host to clarify if this meant he had five years left, the 68-year-old actor responded, "Give or take, yeah."

Campbell initially announced his cancer diagnosis in March, noting that convention appearances and other work would need to be secondary to his treatment. At the time, he expressed confidence in his recovery, calling himself "a tough old son-of-a-bitch" who expected "to be around for a while."

During the recent interview, Campbell acknowledged that many individuals battling cancer outlive their initial prognoses, and medical advancements could occur during his own treatment. However, he emphasized his focus on "to live with it, not die from it." He prefers to avoid extensive research into specific cases, likening it to a "massive rabbit hole."

He also touched upon the psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis. "You start getting all this bad news, and you're starting breakfast with a st sandwich with a side of what-the-fk for a couple of months as it all comes in," he described. Despite the challenges, Campbell decided against halting all professional activities, asserting, "Well, no."

Campbell is currently promoting his directorial and starring effort, "Ernie & Emma." The film follows a man on a journey to scatter his late wife's ashes.

Reflecting on longevity, Campbell expressed skepticism towards those who intensely focus on extending their lifespan. "The more people obsess about that crap, I'm like, 'You're not really living. You just have a new hobby that you're obsessing over,'" he commented. "What is the quality of these extra years? So, you get five more years – so what are you doing with those five years? Obsessing about the five years, or are you actually doing something?"

Campbell also addressed his health situation on X (formerly Twitter), posting, "Cancer is all the rage, but I've said plenty and I need to get back to the business of living." He has also confirmed that he will not reprise his role as Ash Williams.
