A dating simulator set in the Destiny universe was once pitched internally at Bungie, according to former studio employees. Former community manager Liana Ruppert shared that a team had indeed developed a prototype for such a game, inspired by titles like "Dream Daddy," but leadership ultimately rejected the concept.

Robert Brookes, a former senior narrative designer at Bungie, confirmed his involvement in pitching the dating sim as a full project. The idea reportedly emerged from an internal game jam event, where teams had a week to create game prototypes. Brookes stated that while it was never a fully developed game, the pitch was detailed, complete with a dedicated pitch deck that outlined costs and projected returns. He indicated that the pitch was presented annually but never moved forward.

The community's potential reception to a Destiny dating sim is difficult to gauge. While the game's community has shown significant passion, particularly in the wake of its final update, it is unclear if they would have embraced a romance-focused side project that might have diverted development resources.
