Activision and Infinity Ward have announced the official dates for the upcoming beta tests for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The beta will be available across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, with Nintendo Switch 2 also joining the lineup.
Early access to the beta begins on August 21 and runs through August 25 for players who have pre-ordered on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The open beta period will commence on August 28 and conclude on September 1, including Nintendo Switch 2 users.
The beta rollout will begin immediately after the Call of Duty Next presentation on August 21. This event is slated to feature live gameplay demonstrations, detailed information about Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer content, developer insights, and other new reveals ahead of the beta's launch.
While specific details regarding the weapons, Operators, maps, and modes included in the beta have not yet been fully disclosed, Activision and Infinity Ward have provided a glimpse of the content. The game's launch content is set to feature 19 distinct weapons, 3v3 skirmishes, tanks, and a new mode called Kill Block. Players will be able to select from a variety of new Operators, including those exclusive to the Vault Edition for pre-order customers. These include Operators Price, Valeria, Ghost, and Blix.
The beta will allow players to experiment with the new Gunny system for building custom loadouts. The post also teased that players can expect to engage in modes ranging from Search & Destroy to the aforementioned Kill Block, alongside a Training Mobility Course. Further information on the beta tests is expected to be released soon.
This marks Call of Duty's return to Nintendo platforms after several years. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will officially open on August 26.
