Infinity Ward has released the first beta patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, introducing a new map and game mode while also addressing player feedback regarding in-game audio and weapon balance. The update aims to refine the beta experience ahead of the game's full launch.

The new map, named Cachette, is designed for 6v6 engagements and is set near a French rail terminal, featuring an armory within an old mechanics garage and an abandoned wine warehouse. Complementing the new map is a fresh game mode called Inflation. In Inflation, eliminating enemies awards players cash, with those accumulating the most cash marked as high-value targets. Successfully eliminating a high-value target allows players to steal their earnings and potentially become a target themselves.

Beyond new content, the patch includes adjustments based on beta participant feedback. The volume of footstep audio has been reduced, following community complaints that it was excessively loud. Infinity Ward also acknowledged that the time-to-kill (TTK) was not yet optimal and has consequently reduced the lethality of certain weapons. Map voting has also been implemented, a feature that now functions effectively with the addition of the Cachette map.

Infinity Ward has stated that development on the beta will continue throughout its duration, suggesting further patches may be released. The early access beta concludes on August 25, with an open beta scheduled to begin on August 28. In addition to multiplayer offerings and a playable campaign mission available during the initial beta phase, the open beta will also feature the latest iteration of Warzone. Details on how to access the beta have been provided for interested players.
