Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to arrive on October 23, with developer Infinity Ward leading the charge for this year's installment. Sony has provided details suggesting the game will exhibit its best visual performance on the more expensive PlayStation 5 Pro console. The game will reportedly benefit from the recently upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, enabling "increased graphics quality" across various refresh rates, including support for unlocked framerates when Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and 120Hz are enabled simultaneously.

Both the standard PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro will render Modern Warfare 4 at native 4K resolution. However, Sony has not specified whether the visuals will be upscaled from a lower resolution, a common practice for many new game releases on the current generation of consoles. The PS5 Pro's enhanced capabilities come with a significant price tag; following earlier price adjustments by Sony, the console now carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $900, positioning it as the most expensive home console currently available.

Despite the increased hardware cost, the PS5 Pro and its PSSR 2.0 technology are seeing broader adoption by developers. Titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have already showcased graphical improvements leveraging the hardware. Ubisoft also detailed the enhancements players can expect for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on the console.

Ahead of its launch, Activision has revealed details about Modern Warfare 4's new Kill Block map, an ambitious arena seemingly constructed from elements of various popular Call of Duty maps. Further information about the game is expected to be shared at Fanatics Fest this weekend. Infinity Ward studio head Mark Grigsby and Activision marketing executive Tyler Bahl are scheduled to participate in a panel discussion about the game.
