Activision has detailed the unique 'Kill Block' map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a dynamic environment that reconfigures its layout between matches to offer players a constantly evolving battlefield. This ambitious design aims to keep gameplay fresh by combining elements from various fan-favorite Call of Duty maps within a modular framework.

The Kill Block map is set at the fictional West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility. Its core design consists of three interchangeable 'slabs'—two outer 'end slabs' and one central 'combat slab'—which randomly connect to form over 500 potential map combinations at launch. This modularity ensures that sightlines, cover placement, and engagement pacing vary significantly from one game to the next. The total size of a Kill Block map is comparable to the popular Shoot House map from 2019's Modern Warfare, providing familiar scale with unpredictable layouts.

While many map sections are new, Infinity Ward is incorporating pieces from previous Call of Duty titles. Players may recognize elements from maps such as Ambush from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Storage Town from Warzone's Verdansk, and Highrise from 2009's Modern Warfare 2. These familiar components are integrated into the new modular system, offering a blend of nostalgia and novelty.

To aid players in navigating the ever-changing environment, Kill Block includes designated sectors. The longer north and south walls are marked with six 'A' and 'B' sectors, while the shorter east and west walls feature two 'C' and 'D' sectors. These markings allow players to orient themselves and make effective callouts.

Kill Block is designed to support various modes, including 2v2 Gunfight, 3v3, and the new 10v10 Gunfight mode at launch, with plans for broader multiplayer mode support in the future. Attendees at Fanatics Fest in New York City are among the first to experience Kill Block firsthand. Furthermore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature a free open beta prior to its official release on October 23 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
