Captain Rex, a beloved character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has been officially confirmed for the upcoming tactical game Star Wars Zero Company. Publisher EA revealed the confirmation in the game's final trailer, released ahead of its August 27 launch.
The trailer, which offers glimpses of both cutscenes and XCOM-like gameplay, features a short cameo from Captain Rex at the 1:45 mark. His appearance, clad in his signature helmet and armor, generated significant excitement among fans in the trailer's YouTube comments.
Captain Rex first appeared in the 2008 film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and became a central figure in the animated series of the same name, often seen alongside Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. He has since featured in other Star Wars series, including Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
While Rex has consistently been voiced by Dee Bradley Baker in animated Star Wars media, his role in Zero Company remains unclear. Baker is confirmed to be in the game's cast, voicing another clone trooper named Trick. It is currently unknown if Rex will have a significant part to play or if Baker will voice additional surprise characters. Anakin Skywalker is also set to appear in Star Wars Zero Company, though the extent of his role is similarly undisclosed. The game's narrative centers on a group of misfits operating covertly with the Galactic Republic.
Star Wars Zero Company has been described as an "Star Wars XCOM" experience, a comparison that holds true based on early impressions. The game is set to release on August 27, with pricing at $49.99 for Windows PC and $59.99 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
