Konami has confirmed that Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will launch simultaneously on all intended platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, on October 15.
Initially, Konami had indicated that the Switch version would be delayed until sometime in 2026. However, the official Japanese Castlevania X account, corroborated by other Konami social media channels, has since announced that the Switch edition will arrive on the same date as the PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S versions. This move ensures that Switch players will not experience a staggered release for the long-awaited title.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse marks the first new entry in the main Castlevania series in over a decade, following Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2's release in 2014. While Konami has published several remasters and collections in recent years, fans have eagerly anticipated a new, original installment. The game's announcement trailer showcased 2D action-platforming gameplay, reminiscent of classic Castlevania titles such as Symphony of the Night and the Game Boy Advance entries. This return to form aligns with the recent resurgence of the Metroidvania genre, boosted by acclaimed indie titles like Hollow Knight and MIO: Memories in Orbit.
The game is developed by Evil Empire, known for its work on Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia, with supervision from Motion Twin, the studio behind the critically successful Dead Cells. The narrative of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is set two decades after Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse and follows Rose Belmont, daughter of series protagonist Trevor Belmont, as she embarks on a quest to defend medieval Paris from a demonic invasion. Rose will wield the iconic "Vampire Killer" whip, a signature weapon of the Castlevania franchise.
