Civilization 7's latest update, version 1.4.2, has been released, bringing significant enhancements to the game's peace deal mechanics and leader relationship systems. Developed by Firaxis, this update follows the substantial revamp introduced with the Test of Time update and focuses on deepening player interactions with other civilizations.
The July 28th update introduces the ability to include various resources, such as gold and influence, when negotiating peace treaties. Previously, these negotiations were largely confined to the exchange of cities. The developers have opted for predetermined amounts of these resources, dictated by the current era, to better manage the game's economy and improve AI negotiation capabilities. A new interface has also been implemented for peace deals to streamline the process.
Beyond the diplomacy overhaul, the update makes it easier for players to understand the impact of their actions on AI leader relationships. Events that significantly alter a leader's disposition towards the player are now more apparent, reducing instances of unexpected animosity. Furthermore, players can now proactively attempt to mend relationships with displeased leaders once their stance becomes 'unfriendly,' allowing for early intervention before outright hostility develops.
In addition to these diplomatic improvements, the update includes a buff for Ashoka the World Renouncer and introduces the option to disable specific victory conditions. This allows players to tailor their game experience, for example, by forcing a victory through military or scientific dominance.
The release also coincides with the launch of paid downloadable content, specifically the second part of the Brush and Blade DLC. This expansion introduces Yi Sun-sin as a new leader, focusing on Korea with the Goryeo and Joseon civilizations. The new leader is the 16th-century admiral Yi.
