Relic Entertainment has announced Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, a standalone wave-based defense game set to launch on July 29. This new entry shifts away from the traditional real-time strategy formula, focusing instead on fending off escalating waves of enemies, including powerful bosses and dynamic battlefield events.
While Final Stand leverages the established tactical gameplay of the Company of Heroes series, it introduces a roguelite progression system designed to foster experimentation and replayability. Players will have access to four distinct factions, each offering unique strategies, abilities, and progression paths. These factions will engage in battles across five arenas specifically crafted for wave defense gameplay. To cater to a wide range of player skill, eight difficulty levels will be available, and the game will support both singleplayer and two-player cooperative modes.
Relic emphasizes that Final Stand is designed for immediate action, allowing both series veterans and newcomers to quickly jump into the core experience. The game aims to capture the pivotal moments familiar to Company of Heroes players, where preparation, adaptability, and decisive command are crucial for survival against overwhelming odds. Although it shares its name with Company of Heroes 3, Final Stand is a distinct product that does not require prior knowledge or experience with previous titles in the franchise. Players who already own Company of Heroes 3 will receive a 20% discount on the $30 purchase price of Final Stand. The game is currently available for wishlisting on Steam.
