The animated film Coyote vs. Acme, which was famously shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2023, is slated for a physical home media release on Blu-ray. Director Dave Green confirmed the news to IGN, adding that the release will feature unrated outtakes from John Cena's performance.

Green described the bonus material as "not PG-rated," highlighting that the cameras continued to roll during filming, capturing extensive improvised moments from Cena and co-star Will Forte as they interacted with the Looney Tunes characters. "When you don’t call ‘cut,’ there is minutes and minutes of stuff that is not PG-Rated," Green explained.

This announcement comes as physical media continues to hold value for consumers, particularly in the gaming industry where Sony has announced plans to cease printing physical game discs starting January 2028. While some games are still receiving physical editions, others like Grand Theft Auto 6 are expected to be digital-only releases. The prospect of owning tangible media that does not require an internet connection is becoming increasingly appealing.

Coyote vs. Acme is scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 28, 2026. The film's eventual release follows its controversial cancellation by Warner Bros. Discovery, where it was part of a $30 billion tax write-off. The upcoming Blu-ray release promises audiences the full film alongside the anticipated R-rated special features.
