Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert's first expansion, titled Chartering the Unknown, will launch on October 15. The new content will introduce significant gameplay additions, including city building mechanics, underwater exploration, and the ability for players to captain their own ships.
The expansion takes place after the events of the main story, continuing the narrative and encouraging players to have completed the base game's campaign. Chartering the Unknown is expected to be a paid DLC, though pricing details have not yet been revealed. Players who pre-order the expansion will receive a free deep sea diver outfit.
Crimson Desert, which debuted earlier this year, has been recognized for its deep open-world RPG mechanics, featuring nuanced combat and extensive exploration. Pearl Abyss's commitment to providing new content shortly after the game's release aims to keep players engaged with the title. The announcement was made during a recent PlayStation State of Play showcase.
