Cyberpunk 2077 has reached its highest player count on Steam in over two years, with concurrent player numbers recently peaking at over 87,000. This surge in popularity follows a sustained period where the game has averaged around 30,000 concurrent players daily.
The primary catalyst for this resurgence appears to be a substantial discount during the ongoing Steam Summer Sale, which has reduced the base game's price by 70% to $18. The Phantom Liberty expansion is also available at a reduced price of $18, a 40% discount.
Further fueling player interest is the recent release of a new trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The first season of the anime, which aired on Netflix, previously had a profound impact on Cyberpunk 2077's sales, contributing to 20 million units sold and CD Projekt Red's most profitable quarter in its history. At its peak following the anime's release, more than one million players were engaging with Cyberpunk 2077 daily, with the series widely credited alongside internal changes at CD Projekt Red for the game's significant turnaround. As of mid-2025, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 35 million copies across PC and consoles, and development on the sequel continues.
