Football legend David Beckham is set to become the latest real-world personality to join the expansive roster of characters in Epic Games' Fortnite. Beckham himself confirmed the upcoming collaboration through an Instagram post, which appeared to show him working on designs for his in-game avatar.
According to details surrounding the collaboration, players will have the opportunity to acquire two different Beckham skins. One will feature the former England captain in his iconic number 7 football shirt, while the other will depict him in a suit and tie, a look familiar to fans who have seen him attending matches during the recent World Cup.
A short video accompanying Beckham's announcement offers a glimpse of the suited version of the character in action. The timing of this announcement coincides with England's progression in the World Cup, with the team preparing for their semi-final match. The release of Beckham's in-game appearance is slated for the game's next patch, which is expected on Thursday.
Beckham will join a diverse array of athletes, musicians, and fictional characters already present in Fortnite. Previous additions have included prominent sports figures such as current England captain Harry Kane and his Argentine counterpart, Lionel Messi.
