David Tennant is set to once again step into the role of the Tenth Doctor for a new 12-episode audio drama series from Big Finish Productions. The series, titled "Doctor Who — The Tenth Doctor and Rani," is scheduled for release in August 2027.

This audio adventure will reunite Tennant's Doctor with Anjli Mohindra, who will reprise her character Rani Chandra. Mohindra first appeared as Rani in the 2008 Doctor Who spin-off, "The Sarah Jane Adventures," where she aided former companion Sarah Jane Smith in protecting Earth from alien threats. Rani, known for her curiosity and journalistic aspirations, was mentored by Sarah Jane.

The new audio drama will feature three distinct adventures for the Doctor and Rani, exploring mysteries such as cryptids in Cumbria, the set of a 1970s science fiction show, and a crisis during the coronation of Elizabeth I. The series is notable for bringing together the Doctor and Rani through their shared connection to Sarah Jane.

While Tennant's return is not to the television series, this audio drama offers fans an extended adventure with his portrayal of the Doctor. Rani's character has evolved significantly since her younger appearances, and her reunion with the Doctor promises a new dynamic, influenced by her past with Sarah Jane.

"Doctor Who — The Tenth Doctor and Rani" will be available in August 2027.
