Deltarune Chapter 5 has achieved a new peak in concurrent players on Steam, surpassing its previous record by a significant margin shortly after its release. The game saw 290,973 concurrent players, more than double the prior all-time peak of 133,920. This surge in popularity highlights the enduring and growing appeal of the indie RPG.
Creator Toby Fox has also provided a release window for the subsequent chapter, stating in a Steam FAQ that Deltarune Chapter 6 is targeted for a 2027 release. Fox indicated that information regarding development progress will be shared periodically. He also mentioned that development on Chapter 6 has been proceeding smoothly, to the extent that some staff members might begin working on Chapter 7 before the end of the current year.
The longevity of Deltarune's development cycle remains a point of interest, with speculation that the entire saga could conclude around its 10th anniversary in 2028. Deltarune was previously given a 9/10 score, with IGN noting its ability to deliver a compelling experience even in an unfinished state, leaving players with a sense of anticipation for the unfolding narrative.
