The Destiny community has created a satirical browser game titled "The Vault of Cars," a direct parody of the game's first raid, "The Vault of Glass." This unofficial raid targets former Bungie CEO Pete Parsons, who retired in August 2025 amid declining player sentiment and growing pressure from Sony.
The fan-made experience, developed by the parody account Pete Carsons on X, invites players to "face Pete Carsons in the Vault of Cars and stop him from purchasing all of the remaining cars in The Last City." The game begins with a depiction of Parsons, styled after a South Park character, who transforms into "the Destroyer of Guardians."
Despite its satirical nature, "The Vault of Cars" incorporates genuine mechanics inspired by Destiny 2's gameplay. Players are tasked with flinging tomatoes at classic cars, such as "Micro Management" and "Crunch Enforcer," to accumulate a "Contaminated Fuel" buff. The game also features a parody of the iconic "Oracles" puzzle from "The Vault of Glass" and challenges players to defeat "Investors" summoned by the boss character. The core combat loop involves hurling tomatoes at Pete Carsons until the "Guardian's Desire" buff depletes, requiring a restart of the process.
Following Bungie's tradition, the parody account organized a "World's First" completion event, requiring participants to submit video evidence of their full raid clear, including the final cutscene. The account announced that player submissions were received and were under review for verification, although no tangible rewards were offered for the achievement.
The game serves as a culmination of player frustration directed towards Parsons, with one player's farewell message to the former CEO reading, "I hope all your cars break down." The creation of "The Vault of Cars" is seen as a uniquely on-the-nose manifestation of this sentiment within the Destiny community.
