Devolver Digital is set to release Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed, an action-platformer, on November 19th, a date that notably coincides with the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. The publisher has embraced a humorous approach, aiming to capture attention through this strategic release timing.

Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed is described as a fictitious remaster of an unreleased action-platformer, featuring the publisher's mascot, Volvy. The game presents a vibrant pixel art aesthetic and gameplay mechanics reminiscent of titles like Sonic the Hedgehog and Wario: Master of Disguise. Players will be able to control Volvy as he runs, floats, stomps, punches, and digs through colorful environments. The game is designed to be a short experience, spanning four worlds and priced under five dollars.

Initially conceived as a marketing stunt, the game was developed by Doinksoft with the intention of being playable on a Game Boy Color. A designer at Doinksoft, Britt Brady, presented the concept to Devolver Digital by sending an Analogue Pocket with a cartridge containing a playable level. As the project evolved into a full game, Devolver Digital's marketing lead and co-founder, Nigel Lowrie, saw the potential for Volvy to be positioned against the massive cultural moment expected from Grand Theft Auto VI's release.

Devolver Digital aims to offer an alternative to players seeking something different on November 19th. With Grand Theft Auto VI slated for a PC release at an unspecified later date, Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed will be available on PC, including Steam, on its launch day. This strategy of releasing a smaller, distinct title alongside a major industry event is intended to attract players looking for a different kind of gaming experience.
