Activision is adding the Doom Slayer as a playable operator to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as part of the game's upcoming Halloween event, The Haunting. This update is expected to be the final season of content for Black Ops 7.
The Doom Slayer, inspired by his appearance in the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages, will be available on September 24 through a purchasable event pass. A complementary Doomguy skin, referencing the character's original design from the classic Doom games, will also be included. Signature Doom weaponry, such as the shotgun, crucible blade, and the BFG, will accompany the operator.
Players who do not purchase the premium tier of the event pass will still have access to a free tier that includes various Doom-inspired items, including skins for a UAC scientist and researcher, along with weapon charms.
The Haunting update will also introduce other non-Doom related content. This includes a nighttime iteration of the Avalon map, spooky elements and enemies within Black Ops 7's Endgame mode, new maps, and limited-time multiplayer modes. This event serves as a send-off for Black Ops 7 prior to the release of Modern Warfare 4 in October.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 received mixed reception at launch, with criticism directed at its campaign and multiplayer modes. Despite being overshadowed by competing titles, the developer, Treyarch, has continued to support the game with content updates and community feedback implementations. This player-focused approach has influenced Infinity Ward in the development of Modern Warfare 4, which is reportedly being fine-tuned with the community's input in mind.
