Double Fine, the studio behind Psychonauts, is bringing back its Amnesia Fortnight game jam event, this time funded through a Kickstarter campaign. Supporters will have the opportunity to vote on which of the studio's experimental game ideas will be developed into playable prototypes, and ultimately, which of those prototypes will become a full game.

The announcement was made by CEO Tim Schafer on the Kinda Funny podcast, coinciding with the launch of the Kickstarter page. The Amnesia Fortnight event is scheduled to begin on August 31. This live game jam will see backers selecting from a pool of the studio's concepts to be transformed into four distinct prototypes. A documentary of the event will also be produced by 2 Player Productions.

This initiative follows a period of change for Double Fine, which was recently separated from Xbox ownership amidst broader restructuring at the parent company.
