The long-rumored crossover between Dungeons & Dragons and Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft has been officially confirmed. Wizards of the Coast announced the collaboration as the inaugural entry in its 'Universes Beyond' line, a program that aims to integrate popular external franchises into the D&D tabletop experience.
This new venture follows a history of D&D incorporating elements from other fictional universes. Previous instances include adventures set in Conan the Barbarian's world and the city of Lankhmar, as well as statistics for characters from Michael Moorcock's Elric stories and H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos appearing in early D&D publications. The company also previously collaborated with Blizzard on Diablo supplements.
The World of Warcraft crossover was formalized during this year's Gen Con at a D&D Vision Keynote 2027 presentation. The forthcoming release will be a 256-page hardcover book featuring rules for 11 new species and 9 subclasses, with six being entirely new and three being updated versions of existing characters. Players can also expect over 50 new monsters, more than 60 new spells, details on 23 factions, seven dungeons, and 26 magic items, including artifacts. The book will also include stat blocks for prominent characters from the World of Warcraft universe.
Preorders for the World of Warcraft Dungeons & Dragons book are set to open on July 30. An early access period will begin on November 3, with the wide release scheduled for November 17.
