Wizards of the Coast has announced an ambitious year-long content schedule for Dungeons & Dragons, revealed at this year's Gen Con. Adopting a seasonal approach akin to live-service video games, the company detailed a series of expansions, collaborations, and tie-in products set to release between July 2026 and October 2027.

The "Season of Magic" will run from July to September 2026, featuring the "Arcana Unleashed" releases. These include gameplay expansions with eight new subclasses, 33 spells, 10 backgrounds, 29 feats, and 47 magic items. This season also introduces "Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall," a magical espionage campaign designed to take players from level 11 to 20. Both books are slated for release on September 15.

Alongside this, Dungeons & Dragons is launching a new game-finding feature on D&D Beyond, accessible at dndbeyond.com/lfg. This tool will help players locate in-person games, offers a discount for online games through a partnership with startplaying.games, and includes a Discord server for player connections.

From October to December 2026, the "Season of Champions" will be highlighted by "Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft." This extensive crossover brings the world of Azeroth into D&D, featuring 11 new species and 9 subclasses that allow for all World of Warcraft race and class combinations. The expansion also includes seven World of Warcraft dungeons, over 30 boss stat blocks, more than 60 spells, over 50 monsters, and new mechanics for professions, mounts, and companion creatures. This collection, along with a new DM screen, Icecrown Citadel maps, an adventure, and miniatures, will launch on November 17. Early access will be available two weeks prior for those purchasing from local game stores or with a D&D Beyond Master Tier subscription.

This World of Warcraft collaboration marks the first in a new initiative called "Universes Beyond," which aims to integrate D&D content with other compatible universes.

In early 2027, the "Season of Survival" will usher in the return of the Dark Sun setting. Set in the brutal world of Athas, this release is characterized by mature themes, intense violence, and graphic content, including an optional decapitation mechanic. The accompanying content warning and shrink-wrapped packaging reflect the mature nature of the setting. This season will also officially reintroduce the Psion class to D&D, which has been in development since early fifth edition playtesting. The Dark Sun release will include two books: "Dark Sun: Edge of Oblivion" for setting expansion and "Dark Sun: Blood and Power" for gameplay expansion, alongside a map pack, DM screen, and a limited edition Player's Handbook.

Concluding the announced seasons, "Season of Sword & Sorcery" in September-October 2027 will feature "Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen." This 160-page hardcover campaign focuses on Drelzna, the vampire daughter of Iggwilv, and will be accompanied by a Greyhawk DM screen and map pack.

Further announcements included "D&D Icons," a new campaign for collaborating with notable creators such as Luke Gygax, Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, and R.A. Salvatore on future D&D content, with Joe Manganiello serving as chief creative officer.

An overhaul of the D&D Beyond app is planned for 2027, aiming to enhance its functionality as a mobile companion for in-person and online play, with an emphasis on user feedback for development.

Additionally, more information was shared about the upcoming third-person action-adventure game "Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons." Tasha the Witch Queen will be the game's patron, voiced by Maggie Robertson, and its first gameplay trailer is expected at Gamescom next month.

Finally, Dungeons & Dragons is partnering with third-party designers for ongoing support of existing campaign settings. Ghostfire Gaming will release a Ravenloft adventure next year, Visionary Productions is developing an Eberron adventure for 2028, and Kobold Press is creating content for the Forgotten Realms.
