Electronic Arts has confirmed that leaked footage circulating online is indeed from its upcoming Marvel's Iron Man game developed by Motive. An unauthorized version of a trailer for the superhero title appeared on Friday, showing a mix of cutscenes and in-game action.

"Well, that didn't go as planned," EA stated on the official X account for Marvel's Iron Man, acknowledging the leak. "But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we're ready."

The leaked trailer, which appears to be composed of work-in-progress assets, offers a two-and-a-half-minute glimpse into the game. It depicts Iron Man, identified as Tony Stark, flying through a New York-like environment and engaging in aerial and ground combat against adversaries. The footage also includes a scene aboard a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier.

The gameplay shown suggests a fluid flying mechanic and a combat system with noticeable depth. Iron Man is seen utilizing a variety of gadgets, including rockets, cluster missiles, and repulsor blasts. The character is also shown capable of powerful melee attacks, such as slamming enemies into walls.

An apparent suit customization system is also visible in the trailer, aligning with Stark's known affinity for developing his armor. While Stark's appearance in the game seems inspired by his Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart, he is reportedly not modeled after actor Robert Downey Jr. The game does, however, incorporate visual cues reminiscent of the MCU films, such as holographic close-ups of Stark's face.

The trailer is internally labeled "Aug26 Test," indicating it is a recent build, and features placeholder text for its release window. This suggests it may have been intended to initiate EA's marketing campaign for the game. Marvel's Iron Man was initially announced in 2022, placing it at least four years into development. Given the typical late-stage development of games, the leaked footage could represent a significantly more advanced build than it might initially appear.

EA's Iron Man project was part of a larger slate of superhero games planned by the company. However, not all of these projects remain in active development. EA's Black Panther game, announced in 2023, was reportedly cancelled last year. Recent reports of significant layoffs at EA following its acquisition have also led to uncertainty among employees. Despite these broader concerns, it appears Marvel's Iron Man is currently unaffected.
