Xbox Game Pass has added Egging On, a 3D platformer known for its challenging physics and "rage bait" potential, to its library. The game, which arrived on the Premium tier of the service in August, draws comparisons to 2015's I Am Bread, a title that tasked players with navigating the world as a slice of bread aiming for toast.

Egging On places players in control of a delicate egg, challenging them to traverse increasingly complex environments. The game's premise begins with the egg rolling through grass and progresses to more perilous locations such as a barn, a factory, a store, a kitchen, and an attic, all presented as a single continuous climb. The game's developer, Alibi Games, has focused on creating an experience that is both frustrating and amusingly challenging due to the fragile nature of the protagonist.

Maneuvering the egg relies on awkward shapes and wobbly physics, making each movement a test of precision. The game features two distinct modes to accommodate player preference. The standard climb offers no checkpoints, meaning any fall can send players back to the very beginning of the level. For those seeking a less punishing experience, an optional checkpoint mode called "Drone Mode" can be activated. When enabled, a drone will lift the player back to the last checkpoint reached after each fall.

Egging On also provides players with access to "Special Eggs," which offer unique abilities to aid in navigation. The "Retro Egg" provides a double jump and the ability to slow down time, while the "Rocket Egg" grants a limited-fuel jet boost. These special modes and eggs must be selected before starting a climb, as changes cannot be made mid-game without restarting the current run.

Previously accessible only on the PC and Ultimate tiers of Xbox Game Pass, Egging On's inclusion in the cheaper Premium tier makes it more widely available for subscribers looking to test their patience with its unique brand of platforming.
