Filming has concluded on A24's live-action adaptation of FromSoftware's Elden Ring, according to a crew member involved with the project. The film, directed by Alex Garland, is reportedly set to arrive in theaters on March 3, 2028, indicating a significant post-production period ahead.
Prop maker Sean Schofield, who has previously worked on "The Witcher" and "The Rings of Power," shared news of the wrap on his Instagram account. Schofield posted an image of a wrap gift and a note signed by Garland and producers, expressing pride in the work completed over "nearly four months" of production. While specific details about his contributions remain under wraps due to a long non-disclosure period, Schofield alluded to creating "the coolest stuff ever."
Fans have caught glimpses of the adaptation through set photos shared online, offering views of potential set pieces resembling Stormveil Castle and Liurnia of the Lakes, as well as characters like Queen Marika, the Dung Eater, and Sorcerer Rogier. These unofficial peeks have fueled anticipation for the film.
The Elden Ring adaptation was first announced in May 2025 by A24 and game publisher Bandai Namco. Alex Garland, known for his work on "Ex Machina," "Annihilation," and "Civil War," is directing. Garland is a self-professed fan of Elden Ring, having completed the game multiple times, and reportedly developed a detailed script and visual concepts to secure the adaptation rights from FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki.
The film's cast includes Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz.
