Epic Games has reached a settlement with former contractor Hayden Cohen, who was accused of leaking confidential information regarding upcoming Fortnite collaborations. The agreement includes a court-ordered judgment that prohibits Cohen from possessing, accessing, using, or disclosing any of Epic's confidential or trade secret information, and from sharing such information with third parties.
Cohen was reportedly responsible for leaking details about several planned crossover events for Fortnite, including those with franchises such as Minecraft, South Park, Ben 10, and Game of Thrones. While Epic's initial lawsuit sought monetary damages for losses and unjust enrichment, the terms of the settlement did not specify any financial relief. However, the core of the agreement focuses on an injunction to prevent future leaks. Epic Games spokesperson Natalie Munoz confirmed the legal action was taken against the contractor for repeatedly leaking confidential partner intellectual property and trade secrets gained during their employment. The company requested the court's approval for the stipulated injunction to ensure Cohen cannot publish or share Epic's confidential information moving forward.
In other recent news from Epic Games, the company showcased Rocket League running on Unreal Engine 6 last month. The demonstration featured new visuals and a look at the engine's capabilities, followed by a brief animation that placed Rocket League alongside other Epic projects, including Fortnite and its significant partnership with Disney. This partnership is reported to involve the development of a Star Wars shooter similar to Arc Raiders.
