Disney's extensive catalog of games continues to find a home on Nintendo consoles, with a variety of titles available on the Switch and more anticipated for the upcoming Switch 2. As of early 2026, eleven Disney games have been released on the Switch since its launch in 2017.

Disney and Pixar Games on Nintendo Switch

Launched in 2017, Cars 3: Driven to Win was among the first Disney-affiliated titles on the Switch, a racing game based on the Pixar film, featuring customizable characters and tracks from the movie. It was followed in 2018 by LEGO The Incredibles, which weaves together the storylines of both Incredibles films in the signature LEGO game format.

2019 saw the release of Disney Tsum Tsum Festival, a party game with 10 minigames based on the popular collectible toy line and mobile game. That same year, Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory arrived, offering a musical journey through the series' narrative, serving as a recap for newcomers and a prelude to future installments.

Classic Compilations and Life Simulation

The Disney Classic Games Collection, updated in 2021, offers multiple versions of beloved 90s titles such as Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Jungle Book, enhancing the retro experience with features like a rewind function and an expanded soundtrack. A precursor to the current life-sim craze, Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition, also made its way to the Switch in 2021, featuring familiar Disney and Pixar characters with crafting and questing mechanics.

Expanding Genres

More recent years have introduced new genres to Disney's Switch library. Tron: Identity, a visual novel released in 2023, explores a new narrative within the Tron universe set thousands of years after Tron: Legacy. Also in 2023, Disney Speedstorm launched, a kart racer with brawling elements and a diverse roster of Disney characters, though its in-game economy has drawn commentary. That same year, Disney Illusion Island offered a 2D Metroidvania-style adventure starring Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy.

Perhaps the most prominent recent release is Disney Dreamlight Valley (2023), a life simulation game akin to Animal Crossing, where players rebuild a magical valley alongside iconic Disney and Pixar characters. Its ongoing content updates include expansions like 'The Keepsake Sea'.

Remasters and Future Releases

2024 brought Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a remaster of the original Wii title, boasting improved performance and enhanced graphics. Looking ahead, Disney Villains Cursed Cafe, a visual novel management game centered on Disney villains, is slated for 2025. The Disney Afternoon Collection, featuring classic 90s games like DuckTales and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, is also coming to Switch in 2026.

What's Next for Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to receive a native version of the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III] in October 2026. The highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 4 is also confirmed for a 2027 launch on the platform. The Disney Dreamlight Valley franchise will continue to receive new content on current and future Nintendo hardware.
