Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remaster Plans Won't Deter Ambitious Modders

Despite Bethesda's recent confirmations of official remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, modding communities dedicated to recreating these titles within Fallout 4 have stated their projects will continue. This follows a pattern seen with other ambitious fan endeavors, such as Skyblivion and Oblivion Remastered.

The modding team known as The Capital Wasteland Project, which is reconstructing Fallout 3 within Fallout 4, expressed excitement for the official remaster while reassuring their community. "Our project has been a community-driven passion project for almost a full decade now, and we're committed to seeing that our work, creativity and dedication continue," the team stated. They also clarified that their project is not affiliated with Bethesda Game Studios and has no involvement in the official remasters.

Similarly, the creators of Fallout 4: New Vegas have indicated that the announcement of an official remaster will not impact their development. A moderator for the project stated via Discord that the team's stance has always been that their progress would not halt even if a remake or remaster were to be released. The project lead has echoed this sentiment, confirming their commitment to continue working.

While the possibility of official remasters may have been anticipated, particularly given past leaks, the modders' resolve remains. The Capital Wasteland Project, for instance, has already released a significant portion of their work, including a recreation of Fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC with full worldspace and quests, alongside standalone assets and teasers for other areas. The Fallout 4: New Vegas team has also released some of their custom weaponry.

These fan-driven initiatives, like Skyblivion before them, demonstrate a sustained passion for revisiting beloved titles. With development already substantial for projects like The Capital Wasteland, and with no directives from Bethesda to cease operations, these modders appear poised to continue their unique interpretations of the Fallout universe.
