Bethesda has officially confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development. The announcement, made via a new statement from the company, also revealed that Fallout 5 is now in pre-production, with the studio calling it their "long-range destination."

While specific release dates for the remasters were not provided, their existence has been a persistent rumor for some time. The statement also mentioned that Fallout 76 will receive a significant expansion in 2027 titled "Raven Rock," which will serve as a prequel to Fallout 3. This online title is also slated to receive native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions with enhanced graphics and performance, which are currently undergoing testing.

Further details on the mystery Fallout project being developed with Obsidian Entertainment were scarce. However, recent reports indicated that Xbox had shifted Obsidian's focus to a new Fallout title, potentially at the expense of a sequel to their game Avowed.

The company also provided an update on existing titles, noting that Fallout 4 has surpassed 35 million copies sold and continues to attract new players. Fallout Shelter, the mobile game, has exceeded 250 million players and will see new Seasons, alongside an upcoming television project with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. Fallout Season 3 is also confirmed to be in production.

Bethesda is planning a special event for Fallout's 30th anniversary in 2027, which will include a live celebration in Washington, D.C., as part of the annual Fallout Day. This announcement follows Todd Howard's earlier reflections on the challenges of announcing games too far in advance of their release.
