Josh Sawyer, director of Fallout: New Vegas, has lauded the recent Amazon Prime Video television series adaptation as an "amazing adaptation" and "one of the best" he has seen. Sawyer, who has previously expressed appreciation for the show, elaborated on his positive reception in a recent interview.

Sawyer noted that he watched both seasons as they were released and found particular praise for the show's handling of the game's factions and setting. "I think it's an amazing adaptation, honestly," he stated. "I know that the bar is not always very high for TV or film adaptations of videogames, but I think it's one of the best that I've seen, certainly."

While acknowledging that he might have approached certain elements differently as a writer, Sawyer dismissed these as minor personal preferences. He specifically addressed changes made to the game's world, such as the orientation of the Dinky the Dinosaur landmark. "I get why people get upset about that, but also the scene wouldn't work at all [if Dinky's orientation matched the game]," he explained, suggesting that such alterations are often necessary for the narrative to function on screen. He felt the show managed to capture iconic elements effectively, describing it as "a good representation of a lot of the iconic stuff."

This sentiment aligns with Sawyer's earlier public statements, where he characterized his role in the development of Fallout: New Vegas as that of a "guest" rather than someone who would expect to dictate the direction of a later adaptation. He expressed eagerness to see where the series will go in future seasons.
