Director Louis Leterrier has confirmed he is still attached to direct the Fast & Furious franchise finale, a film tentatively titled Fast Forever, despite a significant delay in production following Fast X's 2023 cliffhanger ending. The sequel has not yet entered production, with Leterrier having spent the intervening years working on other projects, including an upcoming Netflix film.

Leterrier's comments offer a rare acknowledgment from someone involved in the franchise about the stalled development of the finale. Vin Diesel, the franchise's star, recently posted on Instagram that he was moved to tears by the latest Fast Forever screenplay. However, when asked if he had read the same script, Leterrier indicated he had not, suggesting a complex behind-the-scenes situation.

"I can't tell you the full truth, but there will be an ending, and it's great," Leterrier stated, adding that he remains optimistic about the project and his involvement. He expressed gratitude for his work with Universal Pictures and his positive relationship with Vin Diesel. While a March 2028 release date for the finale was previously announced by Diesel, specific details regarding its production have been scarce. Leterrier's remarks, however, reaffirm that the franchise's conclusion is still planned, with him expected to return to the director's chair.
