References to a potential story DLC for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation have surfaced in the backend data of the Epic Games Store. The listings, which appeared following overnight updates to the game's store page, include mentions of an "Story Expansion Pass," a feature not present in the previously released Final Fantasy VII Remake.
While Final Fantasy VII Rebirth received only minor bonus items such as the Magic Pot Accessory and Reclaimant Choker, the existence of an expansion pass for Revelation suggests the possibility of more substantial downloadable content. The exact nature of this content remains unclear, with possibilities ranging from cosmetic items and costumes to a full-fledged narrative expansion. Fans are particularly hopeful for the latter, given that Revelation is slated to be the final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
In a 2024 interview, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the game did not receive an "Episode Intermission" style add-on because players were primarily eager for the conclusion of the trilogy. "We definitely do hear the desire from fans, the voices out there that want that kind of thing," Hamaguchi stated at the time. "I understand it completely, but I think, from my perspective, what the fans really want to see the most is not necessarily DLC. They want to see the third part of the series as quickly as possible."
However, with the development of the third game progressing and no immediate plans for a subsequent title, Hamaguchi's team may now have the capacity to focus on additional DLC for Revelation. Earlier this year, he told ntower, "As for DLC beyond the third installment, I believe that will ultimately depend on how strongly fans continue to support Final Fantasy VII as both a title and a franchise. If there is significant demand, we’d certainly be open to exploring those possibilities proactively." IMAGE2
Speculation also suggests that an enhanced version of Final Fantasy VII Revelation could arrive on next-generation consoles around its projected spring 2027 release, potentially accompanied by new story content. This aligns with historical patterns, as Final Fantasy VII Remake received its "Episode Intermission" DLC with the PlayStation 5's Intergrade version. IMAGE10
