A recent leak from the Epic Games Store database has revealed potential details about an upcoming Story Expansion Pass for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final entry in the current Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. The listing, which includes placeholders for up to nine DLC packs, has fueled speculation among fans regarding the nature of these additions.
While the exact content of these DLCs remains unconfirmed, the designation "Story Expansion Pass" strongly implies that some will introduce new narrative elements. Fans are already discussing possibilities, with hopes that content from the animated film Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children or the spin-off shooter Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 could be adapted. The return of Genesis, the antagonist from the PSP title Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, is also a frequently discussed prospect.
This potential expansion pass represents what many see as Square Enix's final opportunity to enrich the Final Fantasy 7 remaster project, aiming to provide a sense of completeness. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake was initially released for PS4 in 2020, with subsequent enhanced versions appearing on PS5 and PC. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, is now available across multiple platforms. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is slated for release in the first half of next year.
