Following the announcement of the Bastion job at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Berlin, players are actively theorizing about the expansion's second new job. Square Enix has confirmed that both new jobs for the upcoming Evercold expansion will be original to the Final Fantasy series, ruling out previously introduced classes. The community's current leading theory points to Falconer as the second job, a physical ranged damage dealer.

Evidence supporting the Falconer theory emerged during a panel at Berlin Fan Fest, where composer Masayoshi Soken played two sound effects. The first was a distinct ticking sound, while the second featured a bird screech followed by slashing noises. These auditory clues have strongly influenced the community's speculation, particularly on platforms like Reddit.

The latest trailer for the Evercold expansion also features a prominent bird, adding visual weight to the theory. The trailer shows a pink-haired Miqo'te interacting with a large, seemingly friendly bird. This imagery, combined with the Miqo'te's attire featuring thick leather gloves—typical for those who handle large birds—bolsters the idea of a job centered around bird command. The possibility exists that a Falconer job could function similarly to the existing Summoner class, allowing players to control and utilize a bird companion in combat.

Discussions also address the magical instrument wielded by the Miqo'te and the initial ticking sound effect. While the new job is expected to be physical ranged DPS rather than magical, some theories suggest the ticking might represent the cocking of a crossbow. Alternatively, the sound could be related to the physical aspect of commanding a bird to attack enemies.

Square Enix has yet to officially confirm the second new job for the Evercold expansion. The official reveal is scheduled to take place at the Tokyo Fan Fest, which will be held from October 31 to November 1 at Tokyo's Makuhari Messe.
