Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, slated for release on September 17th for Nintendo Switch, is continuing a notable character tradition within the tactical RPG series: the inclusion of "himbos." Recent character introductions via the series' official X account have showcased individuals fitting this archetype, joining a lineage that stretches back through previous entries.

This week's spotlight fell on Sirocco, a bard described as a mysterious figure on a quest for revenge. His logline states he calls himself "the Whimsical Wind" and possesses a "frivolous nature that always leads him to flirt with beautiful women," while also having "sharp insight and high erudition." The character enjoys the Goddess Kara, "all women," and composing poetry. While some might debate his classification, the description emphasizes a charming, perhaps playfully unintelligent, demeanor.

Prior to Sirocco, the team introduced Tobias, identified as the "stalwart general of Salamis." Proud of his strength and defense, he affectionately refers to Queen Theodora as "Ojō." Tobias has served the kingdom since the previous king's era, achieving numerous military feats. He is noted as not being "good at using his head" and having trouble remembering names. His enjoyments include liquor, combat, singing, and socializing, painting a picture of a well-meaning but less intellectually inclined warrior.

These characters echo previous Fire Emblem installments. 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses featured Sylvain, a noble character characterized by his attraction to women. He famously remarked to the protagonist Byleth about the Officers Academy being filled with "beautiful girls as far as the eye can see." Earlier still, Gatrie from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn was known for his flirtatious nature, described by another character as someone who "would hit on a tree if it was wearing a skirt."

With an estimated cast size between 32 and 40 characters, and with 12 characters detailed so far, the ongoing reveals suggest more archetypal characters may be forthcoming. The plot of Fortune's Weave centers around competing in the Heroic Games, implying a cast eager for attention and glory.
