Nintendo has announced that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next installment in its tactical RPG series, will launch on September 17 for Switch 2. The new details emerged during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, which showcased more of the game's units, structure, and setting.
The game's narrative centers on a competition known as the Heroic Games, set within a Roman-inspired coliseum. Players will choose one of four distinct protagonists, each with unique motivations for competing. Cai seeks to free his imprisoned father, Theodora aims to demonstrate her leadership capabilities, Leda desires revenge, and Dietrich is in search of a worthy opponent. The ultimate victor of the tournament will have a wish granted, with the Fire Emblem artifact likely playing a role in this outcome.
Recent Fire Emblem entries have featured a free-time structure, and Fortune's Weave continues this tradition. Players will have opportunities to recruit new units, venture outside the city to train against various foes, and enhance their skills in the training arena. The presentation also offered a glimpse of a potential antagonist, with a character shown rejoicing about the "advent of the Underworld." Additionally, Sothis, a character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, appears to be returning.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will be available on September 17, and a collector's edition is also planned for release on the same day.
