Developer Wolf Haus has enlisted the help of four former cult members to test their upcoming co-op game, Join Us. These individuals, with a collective experience spanning over 50 years in various "unique societies," were tasked with experiencing the game's "darkly satirical take on cult life" by recruiting followers, building compounds, and defining beliefs.
The experiment, documented in a teaser video, saw mixed reactions from the participants. One former member expressed excitement over the prospect of growing their own food, reminiscent of their past experiences in a "holistic rejuvenation centre." Another, however, was less enthused, stating that "no one's going to like this."
During their gameplay, the former cult members discussed aspects of their time in cults. One participant, Ariel, recalled a belief in a UFO arrival on May 12, 2001, while Javier reflected on his time in a community that emphasized self-sufficiency through farming. Developer Wolf Haus took precautions to bleep out the specific names of the cults the participants were involved with.
Join Us is an open-world survival game that allows players to establish their own cult, recruit followers, and survive the apocalypse. The game supports solo play and co-op for up to four players. It is currently scheduled for release in March 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
