Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 has introduced a new gameplay mechanic: match overrides. These alterations to the game's rules can be activated by interacting with specific override consoles that spawn throughout the island.

These override consoles appear in consistent locations each match, though only one console is active at any given time. The timing of activation is random, with more consoles potentially becoming available as a match progresses. Players who are the first to interact with an active console can select from three different match overrides, which can modify aspects of gameplay such as sprint speed, experience gain, pickaxe damage, and more. Some overrides may affect only the player's squad, while others influence the entire lobby.

There are nine potential locations for override consoles across the Chapter 7 Season 4 map. To find an active console, players can either wait near a console or try to position themselves between multiple locations. When a console becomes available, an icon resembling a game cartridge will appear on the player's screen and map. Proximity to an override console may involve dealing with NPC enemies. A green checkmark in the bottom right corner of the console's interaction prompt indicates that another player has already used it.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 features a total of 12 distinct match overrides, though only three are presented as options at any single console. The game will broadcast a lobby-wide message when a match override has been chosen. Squad-only overrides will also result in the squad's location being revealed on the map.

The available match overrides include:

  • Sonic Speed: Increases sprint speed over time.
  • More XP: Grants more experience points from eliminations, looting, and storm survival.
  • Loot Hack: Provides a special item from the next chest opened.
  • Extra Life: Allows for one respawn when on the verge of elimination.
  • Big Fish: Ensures all fishing holes yield golden fish.
  • Constant Heal: Grants continuous health and shield regeneration when out of combat.
  • Infinite Stamina: Removes stamina limitations.
  • Headshot: Increases headshot damage.
  • Overshield: Adds an extra or new overshield.
  • Speed Shooter: Accelerates weapon firing and reload speeds.
  • Big Loot: Increases the chance of finding epic or legendary items from chests.
  • Power Pickaxe: Significantly boosts pickaxe damage.
